Choose from a Full Day Program of either
(1) Natural Living Skills
(2) Wilderness Survival Challenge.
Rome wasn’t built in a day…. sometimes one day isn’t enough to reach your goals. Why not include an overnight stay allowing everyone in your group to share their personal experience of the day whilst enjoying the warmth and glow of the campfire. Furthermore, additional subjects can be covered in the evening such as making natural cordage, spoon-carving and natural pot hangers which participants can take home with them. Alternatively, if anyone in the group wishes to bring along their guitar, there is no better place for an acoustic session around the campfire. The overnight option will also include an evening meal, campfire treats and breakfast.
Prior to your arrival, the campfire will be lit and will have large kettles hanging with water on the boil for anyone looking for hot drinks.
NLS Programme: Our NLS programme will give everyone an insight and understanding of the following; firecraft - including fire by friction, managing your fire for both cooking and warmth, making water safe to drink, modern and emergency shelters and essential knots. This is a full day programme. The Natural Living Skills programme is delivered in a friendly and informal manner. Previous experience is not essential - you just need to have a love for the outdoors and be interested in learning more about it!
The very nature of the activities in the NLS programme will help each individual to appreciate and learn the importance of basic skills that can be applied when they are outdoors.
Wilderness Survival Challenge
We’ll create simulated survival situations that require teamwork to overcome. Following a demonstration based on our NLS programme covering fire, shelter and water, teams must use creativity and ingenuity to successfully pass each stage in order to earn ingredients for your cook-off over the fire and be crowned the Survival Chef!
Strengthen your teams Communication, Independency/Interdependency, Teamwork, Problem Solving, Planning/Adaptability, Trust, Bonding, Group Dynamics

The site is located in Wicklow, between Laragh and Rathdrum village. It is a woodland/ forest setting with the added attraction of having the beautiful Avonmore River flowing alongside it. This is an opportunity to experience a true wilderness camping adventure in a tranquil location with its own private entrance and car parking. A place to recharge your batteries and a time to enjoy and create memories that will last forever.
Local attractions to visit include Glenmalure valley, Glendalough, Wicklow Gap and Annamoe Trout Farm.
We have a short but breath-taking loop walk around the site which will bring you through the forest and along by the river and up to our tree tent and hammock camping area. This spot was used to film scenes from the popular TV series Vikings, who left behind some beautiful tree carvings. Archery and Axe Throwing is offered here and what a better place to shoot some arrows and throw axes!
Of note: We are located in a natural woodland environment and our facilities are basic with no running water or electricity. We promote a back to nature theme and generally offer wilderness camp experiences, accredited courses and workshops throughout the year. Our over the Fire Cooking method, which has been passed by the HSE enables people to learn how to safely prepare and cook simple but wholesome food over the fire.
So what facilities do we have onsite aside from the accommodation we offer? We have private parking, walking trail around the site, sheltered fire pits with log seating, composting toilets and a wash hand area with basin and antibacterial soap dispenser located outside. A hot shower is possible if needed using rain water that is harvested.
In cold weather camping, it's possible to get a warm and comfortable night's sleep in a tipi, tree tent or even a camping hammock. You just need to layer up with clothing and have a good sleeping bag and perhaps an extra blanket! Bring snacks or energy bars as when you get cold, your body uses more energy to stay warm and requires more fuel. We bring in water for tea and coffee but guests might want to consider bringing their own mineral water to drink.
